Army Chief orders investigations on Horowpothana incident [August 28 2013]

Army Commander Lieutenant General Daya Ratnayake has ordered the Director of Army Legal Services to convene a Court of Inquiry over the four soldiers who were involved in a criminal act in Horowpothana. The Army issuing a press release this evening stated that military authorities in respective areas are instructed to cooperate with the Police during investigations.

The army would not under any circumstances, defend anti-social activities, perpetrated on civilians, the Army Commander said in his statement in the press release.

Earlier today, these four soldiers, who belong to the Sri Lanka National Guards (SLNG), were immediately suspended from service until the investigations are over.
