Army officers relieved from duty pending Weliweriya inquiry [August 30 2013]

Four army officers including a Brigadier and three Lieutenant Colonels have been relieved of their duties on a directive made by the Army Commander Lieutenant General Daya Ratnayake to facilitate the inquiry on the Weliweriya incident, the military announced today.

The directive has been recommended by the Military Court of Inquiry and the officers had been placed in their respective regiments pending further inquiries.
