Pakistani nabbed with millions worth gems [September 07 2013]

A Pakistani national who tried to smuggle in gems worth over Rs.1million was nabbed by the Police Narcotic Bureau at the Bandaranaike International Airport on Friday night.

Police arrested the suspect on a tip off after he had managed to come through the Customs green channel. He had reportedly come from Karachchi, Pakistan.

Director Police Narcotic Bureau SSP Kamal Silva said they found over 700 precious stones hidden in the suspects baggage and clothing.

He was handed over to the airport Customs along with the contraband for further inquiries.
