Several shops were completely gutted by fire in Thalawakele early this morning, the police said.
A jewellery store, a vegetable stall, fancy goods shop and a clothing and footwear shop located within a shopping complex had been destroyed by the fire. The cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained.
