Fifth phase of the Divi Neguma program will be launched tomorrow. The inauguration program will be launched by President Mahinda Rajapaksa tomorrow at the auspicious time of 10.11, a spokesman for the Economic Development Ministry said.
Parallel to this event a program to plant vegetable seeds and fruit, coconut, herbal and other plants in selected 125,000 Divi Neguma model home gardens will also begin island-wide.
At present over 2.5 million people are participating in the Divi Neguma program.
The First Phase of Divi Neguma program was launched in March 2011 with the objective of reviving and strengthening the economy by raising family incomes. At the First Phase one million household economic units were targeted and it received a strong positive response from the people. The Fourth Phase was launched on October 22, 2012.
