64th Army Day celebrated [October 10 2013]

Sri Lanka Army, celebrated its sixty fourth Anniversary and Army Day today. Formal celebrations were held today with a colourful parade at CR & FC ground in Colombo 7.

Following the formal celebrations the Army Commander Lieutenant General Daya Ratnayake and senior officers visited the inmates at Attidiya Mihindu Seth Medura, the wellness resort where some 50 war heroes who are totally dependent are receiving therapeutic treatment for the rest of their lives.

An all rank tea party organized at the Army Headquarters and an all rank dinner at Panagoda Army Cantonment will be held tomorrow.

As the precursor to the Army anniversary a series of Buddhist religious observances in Kandy, Anuradhapura and Kataragama as well as Islamic, Hindu and Christian religious ceremonies were held beginning from the final week of September.
