A man and a woman were killed in two separate motorcycle accidents reported from Kurunegala and Gokarella last evening, the police said.
In Kurunegala a 36-year-old woman was run over by a lorry when the latter was collided head on with a motorcycle on Colombo – Kurunegala Main Road.
The victim who was the pillion rider had been identified as Mohamed Abdul Rawus Ramesha of Polgahawela. Her husband had ridden the motorcycle.
Meanwhile in Gokarella a 76-year-old male cyclist was killed when he was hit by a motorcycle in Kumbukkete area in Melsiripura, the police said.
The victim had been identified as Ilangakoon Mudiyanselage Herath Banda. The motorcyclist also sustained injuries and admitted to Gokarella Hospital.
