Colombo – Avissawella Road between Angoda junction and Avissawella had sunk this morning causing heavy traffic bound for both directions, the police said.
A bridge near Madinawatta Temple had sunk by four feet forcing road users to depend on alternative routes.
The police advises the public to take optional routes through Old Avissawella Road, Ambatale Junction, Sedawatta Junction, Aggona Junction, Ambagaha Junction and Rajagirya.
The Road Development Authority is currently engaged in repairing the road.
