Liberian diplomat nabbed millions worth Heroin [November 05 2013]

A Liberian Diplomat who attempted to smuggle 30kilograms of Heroin worth over Rs.198million out of the country from the Bandaranaike International Airport was arrested by the Customs official yesterday.

The suspect, an Ugandan National had tried to leave the country on October 26th when he was stopped by the Customs officials at BIA. When his baggages were about to be checked he had resisted saying that he was a diplomat and the bag belongs to Liberian Ambassador.

The Customs then detained the suspect and with the assistance of the Foreign Ministry official had searched the bag this morning to find a stock of Heroin in two 15kg packets.

Customs Director Leslie Gamini is conducting investigations.
