His Royal Highness the Prince Charles addressing the CHOGM inauguration ceremony said the commonwealth should deliver a touch of healing upon the world. “We hope and trust the Commonwealth brings healing to our troubles” he said.
The Prince also said that Sri Lanka had confronted great adversity in recent years, recounting his previous visit to Sri Lanka in 2005 following the devastating tsunami.
He said that he met with several relief workers during his visit and expressed his admiration for their fortitude while commending the progress that had been made in healing those wounds.
The Prince of Wales also stated that it was his privilege to represent the Queen at CHOGM 2013 and passed on her sincere thanks for this remarkable initiative.
