Defence Secretary Gotabaya Rajapaksa called on His Holiness Pope Francis at an audience in the Vatican today. Mr. Rajapaksa who visited the Vatican as the Special Envoy of the President Mahinda Rajapaksa conveyed an invitation to Pope Francis to visit Sri Lanka in the near future.
During his visit, the Secretary also paid courtesy calls on dignitaries of the Vatican City State. A release from the Permanent Mission of Sri Lanka to the UN, Geneva stated.
