An 18-year-old male who went on a pleasure trip on a boat with his family members drowned in Nasavanthiv estuary in Valachchena yesterday afternoon, the police said.
The victim identified as Meera Mohideen Mohamed, a resident of Valachchena has drowned while attempting to get off the boat up on return. He was believed to have been dragged by a strong current.
The body was found shortly after and was released to the family following the post mortem.
