According to the Meteorology Department the atmospheric disturbance still in effect to the Eastern parts of Sri Lanka.
Showers and thunder showers can be expected at times in the North, Eastern and North Central Provinces and in the Hambantota and Matale districts, according to the 12 noon forecast of the Meteorology Department. There could be very heavy rainfalls, of more than 150mm, are most likely in many places of these areas.
The atmospheric disturbance has intensified into a low pressure area and is located very close to the East coast of Sri-Lanka. Under its influence, Showery and windy weather is expected to continue over the country.
Thundershowers will develop over most parts in other provinces during the afternoon and night. There may be temporary localized strong winds during thundershowers.
