No delay in DCD testing – ITI [December 04 2013]

There are no delays in the process of testing dicyandiamide (DCD) in milk powder stated the Industrial Technology Institute. Its Director Dr. Sirimal Premakumara said that there is a special unit dedicated to this task along with trained technicians and experts of the field.

Commenting on several recent news reports which stated that test reports of a leading brand are held up at ITI, Director Dr. Premakumara said that at the moment none of the samples of that particular brand are in their lab and all reports have been duly handed over to the Ministry of Health.

“If required the unit works 24 hours until the required tests are completely done and full reports are handed over to the Health Ministry,” he added.

The Health Ministry, last July, announced that all milk powder imported should be tested and samples collected by Health Ministry officials are tested at the Industrial Technology Institute.
