Pakistan – SL navies to strengthen maritime security 20131213_01

Sri Lanka and Pakistan navies have agreed to team up to strengthen the maritime security of the region at a meeting held between the two navy chiefs today.

Naval Chief of Pakistan Admiral Mohammad Asif Sandila who is currently on an official visit to Sri Lanka met Sri Lankan navy Commander Vice Admiral Jayanath Colombage at the Naval Headquarters today (13).

The two naval commanders held detailed discussions on bilateral cooperation, according to the statement from the Pakistan High Commission in Colombo. The discussions were focused on ways and means to enhance navy to navy relationship especially in the domain of counter terrorism and maritime security.

The Chief of Naval Staff Pakistan was assisted by his delegation members and Colonel Sheharyar Parvez Butt, Defence Advisor Pakistan. During his visit Pakistani Navy Chief also met senior officers of Sri Lanka Navy.
