Six inmates of the Bogambara Prison in Kandy launched a fast unto death on a building rooftop this morning demanding their immediate release, the police said.
The inmates including few who are on death row demanded that they be released immediately or to reduce their prison terms.
The protesters has had a meeting with the Secretary Prisons Department but the outcome is yet to be ascertained.
