Man with gold arrested at BIA [January 24 2014]

A man who attempted to smuggle out four pieces of gold worth over Rs.3million was arrested by the Customs official at the Bandaranaike International Airport last night.

The suspect was carrying gold weighing 664grams concealed in the frame of his two hand bags. He was bound for Madurai, India, Customs Spokesman Director Leslie Gamini said.

The goods were forfeited and a fine of Rs.100, 000 was imposed on the suspect.
