Group arrested for assaulting policeman [January 25 2014]

A group of six persons was taken into custody for assaulting a Police officer in Embilipitiya last night, the police said.

The officer was returning home after duty when he was beaten by a gang of six. He was admitted to Embilipitiya Hospital.

The police following an investigation arrested six persons involved in the attack. The motive of the assault is known to be a personal dispute.
