Wellampitiya shanty houses gutted by fire

<P>Twenty five shanty houses in Nagahamullawatta in Wellampitiya were completely destroyed by a sudden fire broke out yesterday afternoon.  



<P>The fire was reported to Colombo Fire Brigade around 3.40pm where seven vehicles including fire engines and bowsers had been sent to the scene. The situation was brought under control shortly after.  



<P>No casualties had been reported in the fire and the damage is yet to be ascertained. Wellampitiya Police are conducting investigations.
