Six-member robber gang arrested [February 19 2014]

A six-member gang wanted for a series of armed robberies in Gamapaha, Veyangoda, Wellawa and Mahawa areas was taken into custody by Negombo Divisional Crime Detection Bureau yesterday.

The police seized a 9mm revolver, a Repeater gun, a Suzuki Maruti car, a Discovery motorcycle, a fake National Identity Card and some of the stolen jewellery.

The suspects who are from Horampella, Andiambalama, Minuwangoda, Walallawita and Ibbagamuwa areas were produced before Negombo Magistrate and remanded.
