Teenager commits suicide following Facebook romance [February 19 2014]
A 19-year-old girl of Pitigala in Elpitiya had committed suicide today over a failed romance on the Facebook, the police said.
The victim who had reportedly posted a picture of an attractive woman on her Facebook account instead of her picture had started an affair with a youth that was carried out for several months.
The youth had reportedly visited her house yesterday but the girl had avoided to see him over the embarrassment of exposing her true identity.
She had committed suicide by hanging herself at home this afternoon, the police said.
