Aiming at promoting healthy, organic food production in the country, the Sri Lanka Standard Institute started issuing certificates to organic food manufacturers. It will be to certify that these products are up to the SLS 1324 : 2007 standard, a protocol established by the Sri Lanka Standard Institute.
The Sri Lanka Standard Insitute is in the process of establishing a system to incorporate entrepreneurs who maintain their farming practices and manufacturing processes free from pesticides and artificial fertiliser use. SLS 1324 : 2007 standard is one step of the process.
