Bogus foreign education agent nabbed after ages [March 05 2014]

A bogus foreign education agent who had collected a sum of Rs.8million from a group of students promising them education in the UK was arrested by the Colombo Fraud Investigation Bureau yesterday, the police said.

The suspect who had run an agency called GT International (pvt) Ltd in Melbourn Avenue in Colombo 04, had collected the said amount from a number of students promising them to be sent for overseas education before he fled the country in 2005.

The suspect identified as Abdul Azak Mohamed Rimaz was arrested once he returned to the country after nine years. The CFIB had received 23 complaints from aggrieved parties.

The police request from the public to inform the hotline 0718602585 or CFIB if anybody was financially cheated by the suspect promising education in England.
