Education Minister Bandula Gunawardena's son Chathura Gunawardena who was produced before Matara Magistrate Courts today involving a fatal motorcar accident was released on a bail of Rs.200, 000.
Chathura was arrested by Matara Police Traffic Branch on February 20 for causing serious injuries to a 52-year-old male hit by the vehicle driven by him. He was produced before courts on the same day and was released on bail and ordered to reappear on May 29, 2014.
The victim who was being treated in a serious condition in Matara Hospital succumbed to his injuries yesterday. Chathura was asked to surrender to the police today and produced in the courts, the police said.
