The residences of the Excise Commissioner General Wasantha Hapuarachchi and the OIC of Excise Bureau of Special Operations Rosmand Fernando came under gun fire during wee hours today, the police said.
The unidentified gunman had fired several rounds at the Excise Commissioner Generals residence in Pamunugama around 2.00am causing damages to his vehicle and the house.
The second incident reported around 3.00am where the gunman had fired at BSO OICs house in Rukmalgama causing damages to the house only.
Both officials were present at their respective houses at the time of the incident and none have received injuries. This was the second time OIC Fernandos house came under shooting, which the first incident occurred several weeks ago, Excise Spokesman Superintendent Prabath Jayawickrama said.
Several police teams are conducting investigations and the motive behind the shooting is yet to be ascertained, said Police Spokesman SSP Ajith Rohana.
