36Kg Heroin haul; Pakistani and local drug baron arrested [March 19 2014]

Police Narcotics Bureau conducting investigations into the recent 36Kg Heroin haul yesterday arrested a Pakistani national and a local drug kingpin linked to the deal, the police said.

Pakistani national named Mohamed Wali (53) who was the consignee of the two baggages containing large nuts and bolts in where the contraband was hidden, was arrested in Kandy.

Having interrogated him the PNB arrested a local businessman named Mohamed Ali Sabir, who is reported to be a leading drug kingpin the country. The suspects are being detained and further questioned.
