Ten arrested at a refuse tea processing plant [March 28 2014]

Alawathugoda Police arrested ten persons engaged in processing and packing refuse tea at a factory along with 15, 000 kilograms of the contraband early this morning, the police said.

The police on a tip off raided a timber store in the area and found the men have secretly involved in an illegal act of processing and packing refuse tea. The owner of the illicit business had fled the scene following the detection.

Alwathugoda Police conducting further investigations will obtain a report from the Sri Lanka Tea Board. The arrested suspects will be produced in courts.
