Two children who were alleged to have been thrown to the Nilwala River in Matara allegedly by their father have been rescued by the army this morning.
A four-year-old boy and his two-year-old brother had been thrown to the river from Mahanama Bridge in Matara by their father who had fled the scene.
Army soldiers who were on duty at a near by post had managed to rescue the children unharmed. Meanwhile Matara Police have initiated investigations to find the missing man.
