A contingent of over 5000 policemen will be deployed for special duties on the May Day through out Colombo, the Police Headquarters announced today.
According to police 17 May Day rallies and 15 processions of various political parties and trade unions are to take place in Colombo on Thursday.
Around 4500 policemen will be deployed to handle the crowds and control traffic whilst 600 officers will be deployed in civvies, SSP Ajith Rohana said.
