Two boys aged six and eight were found dead inside a pit full of water in Thalape Kumbura area in Morawaka last night, the police said.
The victims identified as Sooriya and Velayudhan Wijeyakumaran had been rushed to Morawaka Hospital but was pronounced dead up on arrival.
The boys were found in a 15foot pit dug to collect water for agricultural purposes in the area, the Police Spokesman said.
The post mortem will be conducted today.
