Four suspects nabbed for Peliyagoda UC member killing [May 23 2014]

Four suspects wanted in connection with the murder of Peliyagoda Urban Council Member Shamila Sandaruwan Jayaratne, who was gunned down in his car on May 12, were arrested by a special police team today.

The police arrested the chief suspect identified as Dhadella Manjula while hiding in a house in Methsiri Gardens in Andiambalama Area in Katunayake this morning, Police Spokesman SSP Ajith Rohana said.

Upon questioning the suspect police found a motorcycle used for the killing along with a black full face helmet and two mobile phones.

Also three other suspects involved in the killing identified as Dilip Rohana of Wattala, Suranga Kumara of Hulftsdorp and Dinuka Thushara of Ragama were subsequently taken into custody,

A special team lead by ASP Premashantha of Western Province North Crime Division is conducting investigations.

The Urban Council Member was believed to have killed over a personal dispute, the police said.
