Quarry worker dies in Ella [May 31 2014]
A quarry worker died and another sustained serious injuries when rocks fell on to their heads in a quarry in Demodara this morning, the police said.
The workers were engaged in planting explosives in the quarry about 50 feet above the ground when several rocks from the top had fallen on to their heads.
They were rushed to Demodara Hospital but one succumbed to his injuries shortly after. The victim has been identified as 31-year-old Murugaiya Sivakumar.
