A 38-year-old married woman had been shot dead at her residence in Pitakumbura area in Bibila last night, the police said.
The victim has been identified as Attanayake Mudiyanselage Jayalatha. Her husband had informed the police.
The police suspect the woman had been shot as she had refused to accept an indecent proposal by the assailant. The suspect is absconding at present. Bibila Police are conducting investigations.
