Moratuwa Police night patrol unit arrested 13 Tamil nationals yesterday who were hiding in a house in Lunawa to migrate to Australia illegally on a sea route.
The suspects had reportedly paid Rs.10, 000 each to a person from Jaffna to arrange the trip. They were brought to the place on May 26 and had been waiting since then for the right time to arrive.
The suspects were from North Eastern areas of Nedunkerni, Mulliyaweli, Jaffna, Mullaitivu, Kilinochchi and Vavuniya. Moratuwa Police are conducting inquiries.
