Sri Lanka Navy Chief of Staff Rear Admiral Jayantha Perera will assume duties as the new Navy Commander with effect from July 01, Naval sources said.
Rear Admiral Perera who was promoted to the rank of Vice Admiral will succeed his predecessor Vice Admiral Jayantha Colambage on his retirement on June 30.
The senior officer joined the Navy on August 23, 1978 and had held many important appointments including Commander Western Naval Area, Commander Southern Naval Area and Deputy Commander Eastern Naval Area.
