Principal arrested for harassing grade five student [July 17 2014]

The Principal of Namalwewa Primary School in Diyabeduma was arrested by the police today for harassing a grade five student for not attending the routine cleaning program held in the school, the police said.

The Principal had allegedly made several other children to knock on the head of the 10-year-old girl for not attending the cleaning process. She was admitted to Polonnaruwa Hospital for treatment.

Her mother had lodged a complaint with Bakamuna Police. The Principal will be produced before Polonnaruwa Magistrate.
