Rangana Herath takes 250th Test wicket [August 15 2014]

Left arm spinner Rangana Herath became the third Sri Lankan Test bowler to take 250 wickets when he had Pakistan captain Misbah-ul-Haq caught behind on the second day of the second Test match against Pakistan at the SSC grounds, Colombo yesterday.

At stumps, Herath had taken his 20th five wicket haul in Tests with 5 for 98 in Pakistans first innings.

The 36-year-old, who led the Lankan bowling attack after the great Muttiah Muralitharans retirement, has so far taken 251 wickets in 57 Tests. Off spinner Muttiah Muralitharan (800 scalps in 133 Tests) and paceman Chaminda Vaas (355 in 111 matches) are ahead of him.

In reply Pakistan are 244-6 at close after Sri Lanka made the first innings total of 320 all out.
