Largest haul of Heroin seized outside Colombo [August 15 2014]

Police Narcotics Bureau last night seized 59 kilograms of Heroin from a boutique in Wathuwala, Katugastota making it the largest haul made out of Colombo, the police said.

The PNB on an information received in March this year continued investigations and arrested a man named Ahmed Sabry Thajudeen from Matale on Thursday.

After questioning him a couple was arrested in Mount Lavinia and another man from Kekirawa. The police also arrested a fifth suspect along with Thajudeen, whom is yet to be confirmed linked to the illicit business.

The suspects had distributed drugs in a boutique maintained as a place to packet tea powder. Apart from the narcotics the police found cash amounting to Rs.2, 585, 000, a motorcar, a pick up truck and 26 mobile phones.

The main suspect Thajudeen is learnt to be the local agent of a third drug lord other than Wele Suda and Mohamed Siddique.
