An elderly man set himself on fire opposite the Kollupitiya Police Station this afternoon, the police said.
The man who sustained serious injuries was rushed to National Hospital Colombo in a critical condition.
The motive behind the act is yet to be ascertained. Kollupitiya Police are conducting inquiries.
