Group tried to migrate on forged visas nabbed [September 17 2014]

A group of persons along with a child which tried to migrate to Malaysia on forged visas were arrested by the CID officials at the Bandaranaike International Airport in Katunayake on Tuesday.

The group comprising three men, three women and a five year old boy were arrested along with two other men who had reportedly issued them forged visas, the police said.

The suspects were from Galle, Mallavi, Kantale, Vavuniya, Anamaduwa, Padukka and Colombo.

Six suspects who tried to migrate were produced before Negombo Magistrate and remanded until September 19 and the two facilitators were remanded until September 30.

he child belonging to one of the remanded women had been handed over to her husband who was not among the group, the police said.
