A 38-year-old man had been hacked to death by an unknown gang in Balapitiya last night, the police said.
The victim who was a fisherman by profession named Asantha Udaya Kumara Mendis was a resident of the same area. He was hacked on the Galle Road near Balapitiya public market.
The motive behind the killing is yet to be ascertained and the police are yet to identify the suspects.
The body is lying at the mortuary of the Balapitiya Hospital. Ahungalla Police are conducting investigations.
