Three nabbed with foreign currency worth Rs.20m [October 14 2014]

Three locals who attempted to smuggle undeclared foreign currency worth Rs.20 million out of the country hidden in their rectums were arrested by the Customs officials at the Bandaranaike International Airport today.

Customs Spokesman Director Leslie Gamini said the three locals from Jaffna, Negombo and Matale had come to board a flight bound for Singapore this morning.

The Customs officials on suspicion searched the trio and found Euros and Swiss Francs worth up to Rs.20 million which had not been declared to the former prior to the trip.
