Turkish nationals nabbed for credit card scam [November 07 2014]

Criminal Investigation Department arrested three Turkish nationals last night for their alleged involvement with a credit card scam in Colombo, the police said.

Two suspects were nabbed in Pamankada last night and the third one was taken into custody whilst attempting to flee the country from Bandaranaike International Airport this morning.

The CID recovered four forged credit cards and cash amounting to Rs.350, 000 from their possession.

The suspects are believed to have stolen the financial data from foreign credit cards and had withdrawn cash from local automatic teller machines. CID is conducting further investigations.
