A 29-year-old female teacher who was run over by a speeding lorry in Hungama on Tissa – Matara main road this morning sustained fatal injuries, the police said.
The victim identified as Padmini Shiromala was standing beside the road waiting for a bus to go to school when she was run over by the lorry. She was a resident of Middeniya.
The lorry failing to control had crashed into a parked bus causing serious injuries to the driver and his assistant. The injured were admitted to Tangalle Hospital in a critical condition.
The victim was a teacher of Dikwella Central College. Hungama Police are conducting inquiries.
