Aravindas cat burglar nabbed [December 18 2014]

A man who allegedly broken-in to the legendary Cricketer Aravinda de Silvas Kollupitiya residence in late October and thieved local and foreign currency amounting to Rs.4 million, was arrested by the Fort police today, the police said.

The suspect who is a severe drug addict was taken into custody on suspicion while he was roaming around Fort possessing a bundle of foreign currency.

Following interrogation the suspect had divulged that he had stolen the foreign currency from a safe in Aravinda de Silvas house, the police said.

Police found foreign currency amounting to Rs.1 million in his possession. OIC Fort Police CI Gunaratne and OIC Crimes Branch IP Silogama are conducting investigations.
