<P>Three drown in Trinco boat mishap

<P>At least three persons including two women were drowned and five others were rescued when a boat capsized in Kappal Thurai Lagoon in Kinniya, Trincomalee this morning, the police said. 

<P>A group of eight people consisting four males and four females had set out in a small boat from Kinniya to China Bay via Kappal Thurai Lagoon around 5.00am. They had headed for China Bay for farming chores. 

<P>Two persons had managed to swim for their lives whilst three others had been rescued by another party in a nearby boat. The rescued farmers were admitted to Kinniya Hospital. 

<P>Police Spokesman SSP Ajith Rohana said the Kinniya Police had been informed about the incident around 8.00am and the bodies of the drowned victims were also recovered shortly after. 

<P>The bodies are laying at the Kinniya Hospital Morgue.
