Full-fledged health facility for Papal visit [January 10 2015]

A full-fledged health facility will be in place for the care of His Eminence the Pope, his entourage as well as for a large crowd expected at Galle Face Green on January 14, Papal Healthcare Team announced.

A specialist team will be available where His Holiness is going to be and an ambulance, a group of doctors and nurses will follow him wherever he travels.

Secretary Healthcare Team of the Papal Visit Dr. Maxie Fernandopulle stated in a release that there will be three medical clinics and five mobile health units for the public available at the Galle Face Green. That includes health First Aid workers, 75 stretchers and 150 bearers as well as ambulances.

Also 13 ambulances will be available with a doctor, nurse and a healthcare worker in each unit to be deployed in selected points along the route from the airport to the Nunciature.

Similar arrangements are made in Madhu too, to cater to the health needs of the public.
