Rakna Lanka armoury opened [January 20 2015]

The armoury of Rakna Lanka Security Service affiliated to the Ministry of Defence situated at the BMICH premises was opened for inspection by the police on a court order today, the police said.

The armoury which was situated in a chamber on the second floor, was sealed earlier over a complaint lodged with Cinnamon Gardens Police that some weapons were missing.

The armoury was opened by a special police team led by ASP Colombo South Roshan Dias on a search warrant issued by the Colombo Chief Magistrate Gihan Pilapitiya.

The police found a number of weapons including T-56 assault riffles along with ammunition. The police are currently taking a record of the number items being stored in the armoury.
