Presidential Secretariat Transport Director remanded [February 17 2015]

Director of the Presidential Secretariat Transport Division Keerthi Samarasinghe Dissanayake who was answerable to over 748 missing vehicles was produced before Colombo Chief Magistrate Court yesterday and remanded until February 18.

A special CID team took Mr. Dissanayake into custody yesterday evening as he had failed to give information about three missing vehicles out of the 748 vehicles, Police Spokesman SSP Ajith Rohana said.

The police found 745 vehicles to date except for a Kyron SUV, a Mercedes Benz car and a motorcycle of which the suspect had failed to submit information.

The CID acting on a complaint lodged on January 14 commenced an inquiry about the missing vehicles. Since then batches of vehicles were recovered from various places countrywide which had been abandoned by its users.
