Maj. Gen. Chrishantha De Silva new Army Commander [February 20 2015]

Major General A W J Chrishantha De Silva was appointed as the 21st Commander of the Sri Lanka Army on the directions of President Maithripala Sirisena as the Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces.

Mr. De Silva received his letter of appointment effective from February 22, 2015 from the President today at the Presidential Secretariat.

Major General De Silva has completed 36 years of service in Sri Lanka Army. He was the Chief of Staff of the Army from August 2013 to May 2014.

He was also the Commander of Volunteer Force of Sri Lanka Army. Mr. De Silva is a former student of Royal College, Colombo.
